Are You Not Entertained?
I chanced upon this video earlier this afternoon:
I already know what it was all about but I never saw a video of it uploaded to youtube and so clicked the link from my facebook page.
I know a lot of people and friends find these guys amusing. I’m sorry but I have never been a fan. They don’t forge even an itsy bitsy smile on my face every time I see them on the streets. (Sorry CMO, Avel and kuya Glen). I’m not saying that I hate them, I just don’t find them entertaining or funny. I’m also not saying that they are not helpful in giving directions to motorists at intersections.
Maybe I’m eccentric because what I see in this video are not the dancing traffic enforcers. What I see are traffic rules being violated in a span of just 3:40 minutes. The 1st time I played the video earlier, the traffic officers seemed like a blur because what I saw where a lot of culprits on the background. I did not even noticed at first that these are different traffic enforcers. However, I don’t know if any of you saw the following:
1. Tricycles plying along the National Highway where they are not supposed to be passing. All of the tricycles in Gensan have “except along national highway” painted on their trike’s sides. (:41, 1:03,1:06 etc)
2. I see a lot of motorcycle drivers and passengers without helmets. (:51, 1:23)
3. I see a tricycle going the wrong way. (What the ….? at 2:32-2:35)
4. A van is also going the wrong way and eventually parked the wrong way (My Goodness!! (2:55-3:07)
5. A red car is also park wrong at 2:32.
My Goodness!
Maybe its just me. I feel like that boy in the movie The Sixth Sense. (“I see dead people”, figuratively speaking).
Maybe I am the only one who saw those violations because everyone else is busy watching those dance moves.
Maybe I am not amused because of the unnecessary traffic caused by the tricycles and motorcycles and other pea brained drivers.
Maybe when all the unregistered (kolorum) motorcycles and tricycles are eradicated then I can appreciate those dances.
Maybe when all the tail lights, headlights, signal lights and traffic lights are all working then I will not be as grouchy.
Maybe when the people of Rome during the ancient times did not get entertained and where not amused by the games of the gladiators, (but instead paid attention to the city’s troubles), the Roman empire would not have crumbled.
Maybe Gensan city and its citizens should pay attention to the unnecessary traffic (and other troubles) caused by these violators instead of blindly looking at these dancing traffic officers.
I have seen how Gensan grew into a big and proud city. This was achieved in just a short period of time.
Soon, the biggest SM Mall of Mindanao will be opening its doors in Gensan.
Isn’t it time for the city to level up its mode of public transportation?
Isn’t it time to strictly implement all the rules and laws in the city?
There is already peace in Gensan for several years now, its about time to concentrate on the order of things.
I hope that the energy of these dancing traffic officers, who are working very hard, will not be wasted by the constant violation of irresponsible and stupid drivers.
Peace!
